The Comal Independent School District is hosting two immunization/vaccination offerings for district students. The first is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17, for incoming seventh grade students; the second is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24, for students in every grade level (18 and under).
While students in Comal ISD have a choice of either learning on-campus or remotely, each must provide an updated immunization record in order to enroll.
The first offering will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Spring Branch Middle School, 21053 Hwy. 46, Spring Branch. Communicare will offer Tdap, meningitis and HPV vaccines, free of charge. Incoming seventh grade students in the district who need these vaccines should arrive no later than 1 p.m.
The second offering will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Canyon Middle School, 2014 FM 1101, New Braunfels. Aurora Concepts Family Medical Practice will offer the immunizations to all students in the district ages 18 and under. Private insurance, CHIP and Medicaid will be accepted. A $5 fee will be charged if the student is uninsured. Students needing vaccines should arrive no later than 2 p.m. Pre-register for this offering using this link.
COVID-19 safety protocols will be enforced for both offerings. Only one parent or guardian will be allowed to accompany the student into the vaccination area. Each must bring and wear a mask.
Vaccines will be offered on a first come, first-served basis on both days. Both offerings will end when all vaccine supplies have been used.
Besides masks, parents are asked to take a copy of the child’s immunization record and the letter or email sent from the school stating which immunizations are needed if available, as well as insurance card. An immunization registry minor consent form will also need to be completed. This may be found here.
