Nov. 17, 2020 - For the second year in a row, Comal ISD’s Smithson Valley High School has received the College Success Award from GreatSchools.org. It is one of 314 schools in Texas to receive this year’s award.
“We are honored to receive this award once more,” says SVHS Principal Michael Wahl. “Our teachers and counselors strive to support and work with every student to prepare them for their future whether that be military, college or career.”
Launched in 2018, the College Success Award honors schools that excel in ensuring students prepare for college, enroll in college and succeed once they get there. This year, SVHS is among 2,158 award-winning schools from 29 states who have demonstrated a successful track record of graduating students who later enroll in two- or four-year college, are ready for college-level coursework and persist on to their second year, according to available data from each state.
Despite the unprecedented disruptions to the 2019-2020 school year, SVHS adopted and upheld many best practices to support its students’ college preparation and success. Read more about this honor at http://bit.ly/2UXtOCX.
Both SVHS and Memorial Early College High School with Alamo Colleges received the College Success Award.
