Canyon Lake High Students Become National FFA Semifinalists

November 17, 2023 - An FFA marketing team from Canyon Lake High School was named a Silver Emblem Team at the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo November 1-4 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team competed in the National FFA Marketing Plan Career and Leadership Development Event contest and advanced to the semifinal round.

The team is comprised of CLHS students Addison Martin, 12th grade; Dean Platt, 11th grade; and Victoria Smelley, a 2023 CLHS graduate. The marketing plan was created for Ultimate Top Drives, a local off-roading vehicle company. The team met with the owners and created the plan based on their needs.

Through career development events (CDE) and leadership development events (LDE), FFA students are challenged to develop critical thinking and effective decision-making skills, foster teamwork and promote communication while recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement. Events occur at the local, state and national levels.

The Marketing Plan Career Development Event (CDE) allows students to explore and prepare for possible careers in agrimarketing and develop partnerships within agriculture, their local FFA chapters and with the community.

Congratulations!
