Five Comal ISD Athletes Selected for San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball, April 12

February 19, 2026 - Five Comal ISD student athletes will participate in the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball event Sunday, April 12, at Northside Gym. Two will compete in the third annual game featuring 134 high school athletes from 62 area schools, and three will participate in the skills challenge or three-point contest.

The five athletes will be joined by Smithson Valley High School Coach Isaac Thornton who will coach the 1A-5A boys Team Blue.

Representing Comal ISD in the All-Star Basketball Game is Maia Aldrich, guard, from Canyon High School who will play on Team Blue in the girls 6A game scheduled for 5:10 p.m., and Mayson Thomas, forward, from Pieper High School who will play on Team Blue in the boys 1A-5A game scheduled for 1:15 p.m.

Both divisions will feature a girls and boys game, along with an All-Star Skills Challenge and Three-Point contest between sessions. Games will air on KSAT 12 and MeTV and stream on KSAT+.

In the Three-Point Contest, Aiden Yantis, guard, from CHS will compete in the boys 6A division, and Luke Garrison, guard, from PHS will compete in the 1A-5A division.

In the Skills Challenge, Parker Golsch, guard, from PHS will compete in the 1A-5A division.

Fifty-three athletes who participated in the 2025 games are currently playing collegiate basketball. Eight athletes received scholarship offers from coaches in attendance. High school coaches nominate athletes for selection. A committee of media members, scouts and former coaches pick or determine the All-Star pools. New this year, head coaches drafted their rosters from a pool of 30 all-star players, going head-to-head to select teams that best fit their style of play. Only players from each coach’s own high school were automatic selections for their team.

Tickets are available at SanAntonioSports.org for $20 per session. The Skills Challenge and Three-Point Contest are included in the evening session. Children under 2 are allowed entry for free.
