The Comal Independent School District has hired a Deputy Superintendent. Dr. Jason Gilstrap will join the district in this role on July 1.
With 28 years of experience in public education, most recently as the superintendent of schools for Floresville ISD, Dr. Gilstrap brings extensive experience in leadership development and management along with classroom teaching and coaching experience to his new role.
“I am excited to serve the students of Comal ISD alongside the teachers, staff, families and community,” Dr. Gilstrap says.
No stranger to leadership positions, Dr. Gilstrap has served as an assistant principal, principal, deputy superintendent and superintendent. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University and Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Tarleton State University.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Gilstrap to our Comal ISD executive team,” says Superintendent of School Dr. John E. Chapman III. “His experience and heart for public education will help us better serve our students and families as we continue to grow.”
Dr. Gilstrap is married with two children and enjoys traveling with his family and playing golf.
